So, about Project 2025. As I look to the year(s) ahead, much of already limited optimism about digital technology wanes with apocalyptic intensity. On the one hand, illegal AI tech is busy scraping every bit of media that is posted on the internet. Gathering this data towards an end which is only shades of nefarious, how sketchy you think this is mostly depends on how much stock you want to give to the integrity and foresight of the tech bro class.
And on the other hand, even if the AI isn’t using your info and creative spirt to feature some horrendous digital slop machine, it is very clear those very same tech bros are quite willing to use your digital info to force a kind of artificial reality that most won’t willingly subscribe to. I mean, have you been to TwiXter lately? Right?
Anyway, I have to come to a decision that I intent to stick to for the next year at least. Outside of my blogs and Blue Sky posts, I will not publish any creative work online or in a digital format. Going forward, all of my fiction and non-fiction writing will be available only in print format. Whether it is a book, a zine, or in a print anthology, I will not release any e-books or contribute to webzines or whatnot. I know I am not the most prolific writer, but I say and do this mostly to demonstrate what I believe is the way forward.
This of course, is even more important as we consider any sort of resistance to Project 2025 and the Trumpist endgame. Because of the connections between the digital oligarchs and the MAGA tools, any real resistance will need to be coordinated and communicated offline. Print zines, stickers, and any new variations will need to fill the gap that many rely on web based communication for. The best online resistance can hope for is coded messages embed within the digital messaging. Turn MAGAs dog whistle tactics against them, with considerable improvements!
I’ll be featuring Dead Led a lot more on this blog, as our collaboration continues and develops during this uncertain time. I feel his “boots on the ground” experience and knowledge is an invaluable asset to anti-fascist culture as it is meets the challenges of the final human century. There is a strong possibility I will release the first book based on his adventures sometime in 2025. We are figuring out the nuances of what to tell and what to take “creative license” with as we explore the underground resistance against those who keep MAGA moving. It is fascinating stuff.
If that wasn’t enough, expect some more Hollywood Henry missives to grace this space. Hollywood continues to have, a moment, and HH is filled with passionate critical views from the beyond. Don’t expect him to jump to YouTube anytime soon. It’s hard enough type up his, um, challenging scribbles.
Remember, the future remains unwritten until it is written!
